About Gujarat Commerce College
Gujarat Commerce College, one of the oldest and most historically significant institutions in Gujarat, played a vibrant role during India's struggle for independence. Established in 1860 by British colonizers, its patron was the esteemed Indian Sir Chinubhai Baronet. The college's rich history is evident in its historic buildings and the ambiance across its campus, now managed by the Government of Gujarat.
The Commerce Department at Gujarat College, initiated by Prin. Dr. B.C. Desai in the 1981-82 academic year, led to the creation of Gujarat Commerce College, officially established on June 30, 1993, following a separation from the parent institute. Initially, 250 students were enrolled. The college was inaugurated on July 15, 1993, and began offering English medium classes in 1996 to meet the growing demand for English education.
