Gujarat Commerce College is one of the oldest and historical colleges of Gujarat State and also popular as one of the most happening places during our struggle for Independence. Though designed and established in the year 1860 by the British Colonizers, it flourished under the esteemed patronage of Honorable Sir Chinubhai Baronet. Its great and glorious history is vividly reflected in the ambiance and heritage buildings of the college spread across the campus. The college is now run under the aegis of the Government of Gujarat. The Commerce Department of Gujarat College was founded in 1981-82 as a result of the zealous efforts of Prin. Dr. B.C. Desai; which eventually led to the establishment of Gujarat Commerce College with effect from 1st July, 1993 through the bifurcation from the parent institute.

In continuation of glorious and inspiring historical traditions of this campus, We at Gujarat Commerce College strive to provide excellence in commerce and business education at the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. We believe in creating an enriching learning experience for our students. Gujarat Commerce College is committed to mold students with excellent professional as well as value-based commerce education which enables holistic development of personality accessible to all stratus of society. Shroff College (Mumbai), Shri Cloth Market Girls College (Indore, M.P.) for proper education and exposure to the vast treasures of knowledge in various fields.

This college has rare distinction of adopting Societal Approach to develop civic sense and responsibility, social commitment and moral accountability through NSS, NCC and other projects on human rights, culture and heritage through which we empower students to lead productive lives and become responsible citizens of the nation.

Apart from that, we also conduct co-curricular and extra-curricular activities round the year so as to provide wider academic exposure to our students.
